ABOUT

Incline Village dates from the early 1960s, when an Oklahoma developer bought 10,000 acres north of Lake Tahoe. His idea was to sketch out a plan for a town without a central commercial district, hoping to prevent congestion and to preserve the area's natural beauty. One-acre lakeshore lots originally cost $12,000 to $15,000; today you couldn't buy the same land for less than several million.
