Bar MT

The passenger trains are gone, but Billings's 19th-century depot has a new life as a beer and wine bar (albeit, some of the wine is in cans, so it's not for snobs). It may only be open until 10 pm, but that doesn't stop the loyal patrons who come for the big selection of beverages. Choose from 29 beers, including rotating seasonal brews, on tap, and feel free to sit on the dog-friendly patio when the weather allows.

Meadowlark Brewing

With two locations in Montana, one in Billings and one in Sidney, this new craft brewery (with food) came about when owner Travis Peterson, a civil engineer by trade and beer enthusiast on the side, decided to make his hobby his business. The brews here tell the story. Choose from mainstays like Violet Delights (a fruity tart ale) and the Black Steer’s Tookus (a dark oatmeal stout), or seasonal brews like Squashtober and Fungus Shui. Nightlife in Billings ends early, and this brewery is open only until 9 pm; it's also a kid-friendly option for nightlife. There's a huge outdoor patio and a firepit, and they serve nonalcoholic drinks like cream soda.

The Pub Station

Despite being a small, standing-room only venue, The Pub Station attracts semi-big acts like Trevor Hall as well as the best local bands. There are dance floors right below the two stages and a bar where you can sit and enjoy wine and local beers and ciders on tap. Check out the website for the music lineup.

Tiny's Tavern

This corner bar—dubbed a "local treasure" by many in and out of town—is famous for its Cajun-style chicken wings and a mysterious drink known as the "Orange Crush." The owners, who founded Tiny's in 1983 and consider themselves to be the dwarves Doc, Grumpy, and Dopey, have a refreshing sense of humor. They advertise their pizza as "voted the best" in town (they did the voting). Enjoy covered patio seating when it's warm outside and the sports bar when the big game is on.
