Fodor's Expert Review Artists Colony Inn
105 S. Van Buren St., Nashville, Indiana, 47448, USA
Built in 1992, this three-story boutique hotel near downtown Nashville resembles the area's many clapboard farmhouses. Windsor chairs, woven coverlets, and antique furnishings distinguish each of the rooms, which are named for Hoosier School artists, and much of the furniture throughout the inn was crafted by local artisans. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in a dining room, which has a stone fireplace, Oriental rugs, and a beamed ceiling. During the warmer months meals can be taken on the wide porch.
PROS
- lots of quaint, artsy character
- some private balconies
- full-service restaurant
CONS
- if you don't like Shaker style, you might find the rooms a bit sparse
