For those staying in Volcano, this spa is a sweet alternative to the big resorts, with a menu featuring a bounty of local ingredients and traditional Hawaiian treatments. These include lomi hula, which is lomilomi massage choreographed to hula music, and laau hamo, which blends lomilomi with traditional Hawaiian and Asian healing herbs and plant extracts. Body scrubs use traditional ginger, coconut, and macadamia nuts but also some surprises, including taro, vanilla, and volcanic clay. Rejuvenation packages include a full-body scrub, massage, and hot steam. Couples are welcome. Note that treatments are by appointment only.
