Fodor's Expert Review Grand Lake Lodge
15500 U.S. Highway 34, Grand Lake, Colorado, 80447, USA
Built in 1920 and on the National Register of Historic Places, this lodge is perched on the hillside overlooking Grand Lake and has 70 cabins nestled in the pines. It also has a swimming pool, hot tub, picnic tables, a playground, and sundecks. The cabins are comfortable if a bit small, with wood-paneled walls, leather couches, plaid-carpeted floors, refrigerators, microwaves, and coffeemakers. For a more spacious place to rest your head, opt for the three-bedroom Ford Cabin, where Henry Ford stayed in 1927; or the Elk Cabin, a two-story building that sleeps 25. Head to the main lodge to feast on breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or simply relax on a porch swing and fill up on what are arguably the best views in town.
