Fodor's Expert Review Jamestown Hotel

18153 Main St., Jamestown, California, 95327, USA

The spacious light-filled rooms of this hotel that celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019 are decorated simply but with flair, and all have updated bathrooms with a period feel. The rooms are above the hotel's saloon and restaurant, either place, along with the patio, a good spot for straightforward American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. For a while during the 20th century the building served as a hospital; the hotel's resident and very friendly ghost, an infant and his mother, are thought to date from this era.

PROS

  • convenient to shops, restaurants, and tasting rooms
  • balcony overlooking Main Street
  • on-site dining

CONS

  • rooms lack refrigerators, microwaves, TVs, and other amenities
  • rooms are above saloon and restaurant (some noise bleeds though)
  • no elevator
