Fodor's Expert Review Jordan Vineyard and Winery
A visit to this 1,200-acre property revolves around an impressive estate built in the early 1970s to replicate a French château. Founders Tom and Sally Jordan—their son, John, now runs the winery—erected the structure in part to emphasize their goal of producing Sonoma County Chardonnays and Cabernet Sauvignons to rival those in the Napa Valley and France itself. A seated Library Tasting of the current release of each varietal takes place in the château, accompanied by executive chef Todd Knoll's small bites. The tasting concludes with an older vintage Cabernet Sauvignon. The 90-minute Winery Tour & Tasting includes the above, plus a walk through part of the château. All visits are by appointment only. For a truly memorable experience, splurge on the three-hour Estate Tour & Tasting, whose pièce de résistance is the Cabernet segment, which unfolds at a 360-degree vista point overlooking vines, olive trees, and countryside.
