The yellow exterior, Mediterranean-style roof, and vineyards that flank the property on two sides lend a touch of Tuscan grandeur, and the pool and hot tub are large and well maintained. A firepit keeps guests toasty on chilly nights. Guest rooms, done in soft whites and beiges and furnished with Nespresso coffeemakers, are in twin two-story buildings. (There's no elevator to the upper floors, so if this is an issue ask for a ground-floor accommodation.) Every room has a balcony or patio; some have views of the pool or a garden courtyard, others of grapevines.

Travelers, especially ones with kids, appreciate these cozy accommodations—most inside actual railcars—only steps from many of Yountville's best restaurants. The inn isn't fancy, but it's clean and well maintained, and except in high season, when rates trend up, you'll save money to spend on shopping, dining, and wine tasting. More than 100 years old, the railcars house seven long narrow rooms (an eighth room is not in a car) with a bit more style than your average motel. Two 18-hole golf courses command much of the real estate, along with endless lawns, a full-service spa, several pools, and tennis, pickleball, and bocce courts. When not in Napa, the owners of 340 condos on the property rent them through the resort. The ones managed by the resort, which range from studios to three-bedroom suites, all with kitchens or kitchenettes, are done up in muted brown and beige shades that keep the focus on the greenery outside. All the condos are decorated smartly enough, if not glamorously, and the beds are comfortable.  Owners at Silverado are not required to rent out units through the resort (Airbnb and VRBO list some), but the ones of the 340 that do are held to standards of quality and consistency. It’s recommended to choose these.

Ivy covers the outside of this downtown hotel quietly providing patrons with comfort, hospitality, and a touch of style at relatively reasonable prices. Though not flashy, the well-maintained guest rooms and suites, all on the second floor and from 419 to 592 square feet, have king beds, updated bathrooms, balconies, white walls, and framed prints and black-and-white photographs of vineyard and similar scenes. Hosts deliver a continental breakfast each morning. Guests receive access to the adjacent Health Spa Napa Valley and its pool, and there’s a garden courtyard for relaxing. Tra Vigne Pizzeria and Restaurant occupies part of the ground floor; a dozen other dining spots and a few tasting rooms lie within walking distance. 

Grapevines surround this luxury property that opened in 2022 on 96 acres carved out of the titular, eight-times-larger Carneros ranch, whose grape-growing history dates to the 19th century. The mid-vineyard lifestyle isn't priced for mere mortals—even during the slowest periods, the rooms and cottages here start at four figures—but the resort delivers a full-service (wellness sanctuary, pools, restaurants) ultrahaute-rustic experience. Oriented toward their outdoor living spaces, the 135 mod-farmhouse guest accommodations start at 400 square feet for a king with a private terrace to nearly 3,000-square-foot cottages with multiple soaking tubs and lavish patios. In addition to the resort lodgings, two types of residences—villas and vineyard homes—are available for booking when the owners are away.

Redwoods and other trees shade this three-story 1886 gingerbread Victorian that 2024 renovations transformed into a homelike contemporary inn with boutique-hotel flourishes. One smallish (223 square feet) room has a queen bed, but the rest, from 289 to around 500 square feet, are spacious, and some have high ceilings. The furniture and lighting fixtures tilt more modern upscale than period, but they've been thoughtfully selected and suit the setting. All the rooms and a suite with a separate sitting area have HDTVs, small refrigerators, and Nespresso coffeemakers. A few King Deluxe rooms have shared balconies overlooking the front garden. A buffet breakfast with a hot entrée is laid out each morning in a living-room-like space whose deck overlooks the pool, hot tub, and landscaped backyard.

Farther from the river, the following two rows, Premium and Standard, look at the backs of other tents, though many are closer to the restrooms, showers, and communal grilling facilities. A market operates at the entrance, and the property hosts live music and wine events on some weekends.
