Shoshone

A prospector founded this tiny burg in 1910, hoping to build businesses around a new rail stop. He and his family eventually developed the town, and his descendants still run Shoshone Village, which encompasses a hotel, general store, gas station, museum, spring-fed swimming pool, restaurant, campground, and RV park. Nearby nature trails wind through wetlands, pupfish ponds, and bird and endangered-species habitats.
