From the Alaska Peninsula down through the Aleutian chain, this area also includes many islands within the Bering Sea, among them the Pribilof Islands, as well as the Bristol Bay watershed. Altogether, this is a place of enormous biological richness. It harbors many of North America's largest breeding populations of seabirds and waterfowl and a vast fur-seal population. This whole region offers wildlife so diverse and rarefied that it’s often compared to its counterpart in the Southern Hemisphere: the Galapagos Islands.
