Wild Caraway Accommodations

$$ | 3721 NS-209, Advocate Harbour, NS, B0M 1A0, Canada Fodor's Choice

Three new architecturally beautiful cottages sit just beside the wonderful Wild Caraway restaurant, artfully decorated and overlooking the Bay of Fundy. The cottages feature queen beds, walk-in showers, fully equipped kitchenettes, and lounge areas (complete with a twin pull-out). Handmade blankets and local ceramics add a sweet touch, complimenting the very modern kitchen accessories and upscale designer touches throughout. The cottages also have private backyards with firepits. There are also three B&B rooms available above the restaurant.

Pros

  • One cottage features an accessible bathroom
  • Included breakfast delivered to room is a gourmet delight
  • Amazing owners make guests feel super welcome

Cons

  • Limited dining options in the area

The Lighthouse on Cape d'Or

$ | Off Hwy. 209, Cape d'Or, NS, B0M 1A0, Canada

Before automation, two lighthouse keepers manned the light on rocky Cape d'Or, and their cottages have been transformed into a small inn with unparalleled views of the Minas Basin. Guest rooms are basic, but there's a welcoming common area with a breakfast bar, books, games, and a small refrigerator, and there's an excellent restaurant on-site. Although getting here is challenging, the wild beauty repays your effort.

Pros

  • Unique and fun setting
  • Warm hosts
  • Congenial common room

Cons

  • Requires a rather steep walk on the final stretch
  • Breakfast not included
  • Two rooms share a bathroom
