Fodor's Expert Review El Shrimp Bucket
A comic sensibility pervades this festive old-town patio restaurant, from the carousel horses outside to the giant sardine can indoors, but the food is no joke. Try the cheese-stuffed jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, sautéed, and served with rice and steamed veggies, or the fried shrimp served in clay buckets. Barbecue ribs are also a good bet. It's a nice place for an early breakfast, too, when you'll be joined by Mazatlán businesspeople brokering deals over coffee and eggs. Note that although El Shrimp Bucket is a chain, this branch is the original, opened in 1963. The food is tastier here than at other Shrimp Buckets around the country.
