Nature Air and SANSA have daily flights from their own airport in San José to La Fortuna (FTN). It's located directly next to the international airport, with a fleet of puddle jumpers and a fast and easy check-in of only 30 minutes before boarding. Most travelers to this region fly into San José's Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría or Liberia's Daniel Oduber Airport and rent a car. Monteverde and Arenal are equidistant from both. Base your choice of airport on which other areas in Costa Rica you plan to visit in addition to this one.
