Fodor's Expert Review Besse

Van's previously rather basic dining scene has been shaken up in recent years by the arrival of several restaurants that offer something classier. Besse, on the second floor above a shopping center, is one of the pioneers of this new trend, and it's a refuge from the bustling streets below, with walls painted a warm yellow, dim lighting, and classical music. The restaurant specializes in dishes (lamb, chicken, or trout) baked in terra-cotta pots and also makes a nice Ali Nazik, a kebab served on top of yogurt that's been mixed with garlic and roasted eggplant.
