At times the streets of stylish Crans can feel like a fashion runway, with the leather-and-fur-trimmed crowd hidden behind logo sunglasses and cashmere hats. This tiny village has taken a cue from Gstaad and St. Moritz, assembling the most high-end shops and designer boutiques in the entire region. Though the usual suspects of luxury fashion can be found here—Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Chanel, Hublot, Moncler, and Prada—several family-owned shops and an outdoor market remain affordable spots to sample local wines, meats, and cheeses.
Don't be deceived by its name: Alex Sports stocks such labels as Bogner, Escada, Ralph Lauren, and Zegna. Yes, you can buy a down jacket or rent a pair of skis. There's also a seasonally open rental location at the Crans Cry d'Er cable car station.
