With a distance of only 15 minutes from the heart of Palma, Grand Hotel Son Net feels like another world. Housed in a historic palace, the hotel is a doorway into another time. Owner Toni Oliver obviously put a lot of work into this lovingly restored town house on Sóller's central square. Rooms—four on the square, four facing the interior—are plainly furnished, but the public spaces keep much of the original lush Moderniste detail: coffered ceilings, alabaster walls cut in floral patterns, arches in carved and painted plaster, and a three-story central staircase with a cupola. The terrace gourmet restaurant takes full advantage of the palm-shaded garden. Book well in advance.

On the pedestrian square Vara de Rey, the Montesol has been a landmark since 1933; now, a trendy 2023 refurbishment brings bohemian design elements, such as shell-imprinted walls and a cosmopolitan restaurant that sprawls out into the street. Run by the Experimental Group, famed for its nightlife and the unpredictable magic of French interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon, the hotel feels fresh, young, and casual (even senior management wear linen pants and sneakers). It’s designed as a base for exploration rather than somewhere to lounge all day, but Dalt Vila views and bespoke interiors mean there’s also a lot worth staying in for.

Located on a quieter side of the port in the old town, NH Collection Ibiza Hotel has recently been refurbished, making this modern masterpiece even grander and more contemporary. The intriguing geometric facade faces a medium-size pool perfect for sunbathing or listening to an Ibizan DJ spin some beats. If you're looking for views, check out the restaurant terrace. You'll overlook the port, the perfect place to enjoy a nice glass of wine during sunset. 

Spacious rooms, two swimming pools (one for families), and on-it customer service are standouts in this upscale beachside resort that impresses from the instant you enter—where the open-plan lobby splays onto a sophisticated pool area. This supermodern, white, Juliet–balconied hotel is one of Eivissa’s most striking urban addresses, with a sliver of rooftop pool and a restaurant with a DJ that even pulls in the town’s elderly locals. While the vibe appeals to twentysomething partygoers warming up before hitting the nightclubs, that’s not at the expense of anyone who’d instead be tucked up in bed by 10 pm. The decor is warm and plant-heavy, the beds comfy, and the rooms surprisingly well soundproofed. Balconies are too small to sit on, but watching old-town life unfold in the square below makes you feel part of Ibiza’s beating pulse.
