When to Go

Although the Beiras's coastal beaches are popular in summer, the crowds are nothing like those in the Algarve. The water along this shore isn't as warm as it is farther south; as a result, the season is considerably shorter. Plan your beach time here between mid-June and mid-September.

With the exception of the eastern regions, the interior is also considerably cooler than that of the Alentejo or the Algarve, so it's well suited for summertime touring. Aside from occasional showers, the weather is comfortable from early April to mid-November. Winters, especially in the eastern mountain towns, are harsh.
