Værtshuset Bærums Verk

$$$$
Norway’s oldest restaurant, Værtshuset (literally "The Inn") is a must on any itinerary including the neighboring ironworks. The inn opened its doors in 1640 and was a frequent stop on the King’s Road from Oslo to Bergen. It is now one of the country’s finest restaurants, specializing in traditional Norwegian cuisine. Low ceilings, pastel-painted wood floors, and shiny pewter tableware make you feel as though you’ve stepped into 19th-century Norway. The lutefisk and the venison in brown sauce are particularly good.
