Fodor's Expert Review Parc Beaux-Arts

Rue de Sigefroi 1, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg City, 2536, Luxembourg

The owners run a collection of stays around the city (including Parc Bel Air and Parc Belvue), though neither holds a candle to this historic boutique hotel. The building, known as the Gëlle Klack house, sits beside what was once the city’s fish market (now home to the Museum of History and Art), at the former intersection of two Roman roads. The current building dates back to the 15th-century and is one of the oldest surviving houses in the city, though its current facades owes much to renovations done in the 1800s. Rooms show glimpses of the old stonework and are tastefully finished with original paintings, while breakfast is taken in the excellent café at the front.

PROS

  • the history of the building ensures any stay is just that little bit special
  • having just 11 suites makes it feel unique
  • the location couldn’t be more central

CONS

  • overnight parking in the garage is a crazy €45 per night
  • there is a lift but it is reached via stairs, so it’s not disability friendly
  • its UNESCO-protected status means it lacks the facilities of its sister hotels
