Boutique Hotel Gaia
Just around the corner from Cifrapalota, and a five-minute walk from the train station, this family-run hotel offers comfortable (if slightly sterile) rooms spread across two parts. For the nicest rooms, stick to "part A"—and, if possible, opt for the spacious Gaia (room 210), complete with a comfy double bed, smart TV, and champagne and fruit in the room. While the rooms are nice enough, it's the public areas that really make this place sing, from the spectacular wood-paneled bar with roaring fireplace (note the wooden chandeliers and the carved faces in the reliefs, which depict the owners' children) to the impossibly beautiful Macaron Kávéház, where breakfast is served every morning. Guests will also enjoy the small gym and games rooms, the lovely rooftop sun terrace, and (for an extra fee) the Finnish sauna.
