Fodor's Expert Review Borkonyha
Editor's Note: This location is reported to be under new ownership and therefore this review may contain inaccuracies.
Borkonyha—the “Wine Kitchen”—is the best place in Budapest for carefully assembled, fresh, and innovative Hungarian/French fusion cuisine. Crispy duck liver, tuna tartare, daily seafood specials, bacon from mangalica (the Hungarian wonder pig), and panfried duck are standouts on the small but excellent menu. Specials on the chalkboards will be explained in English. Ask your server for wine-pairing recommendations, as one of the owners was a prime mover with the Hungarian Wine Society. This very friendly, romantic, upscale restaurant has risen quickly to become a favorite of many local foodies.
