ABOUT

In mid-19th century, Bavarian aristocrat Ludwig, who had arrived in Athens with King Otto, owned significant land in the Athenian neighborhood that now bears his name. Southwest of Omonia Square, between Pireos Avenue (south of Gazi-Kerameikos) and Petrou Ralli Avenue, was a mostly industrial/manufacturing district in the 1960s. But the factories have now mostly departed, leaving behind large, abandoned warehouses, empty plants, and cheap rents, which help explain the influx of artists, galleries, clubs, and even restaurants. A couple of interesting theaters can also be round here.
