Rooms are big and light, with varying designs - some have high ceilings and long windows, others have cute sloping ceilings. The decoration is traditional, with colored carpets and wooden furniture.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Considering the suburban feel of the hotel, it's a shame that the rooms are not that quiet when the windows are open - there is some street noise. But in winter this would not be a problem.

Bathrooms, too, are large, and very clean. The showers are hot and roomy as well.

Run by the same family for three generations, and you can tell: the welcome at the wooden reception desk is cheerful and professional, and staff are very helpful.

You can buy your ticket for the S-bahn from reception - easier than trying to juggle the machines at the station!

Breakfast is great, particularly the bread. Eggs are cooked to order. In summer, guests can eat outside on the terrace.

Guests can take coffees into the 'relaxation room' but there's no bar as such.
