Leafy, slow-paced Montmartre is its own village within Paris, and the Terrace, across from the famous cemetery and within walking distance of all the major sites—Sacré Coeur, Place du Tertre, the Moulin Rouge—is smack dab in the heart of Montmartre. If you feel like being away from it all, but in a reasonably priced, fairly self-sufficient setting with a good on-site restaurant and a chic bar with stupendous views, this is the place.

Room
Though just on the right side of convenience hotel decor, rooms are have sleek wooden floors, contemporary color schemes and furnishings. The best rooms have balconies and views over the leafy cemetery on lower floors and all of Paris higher up, request when booking.
You Should Know Basic rooms are small, it may be worth it to consider an upgrade, and ask for a room overlooking the street to maximize light and views.
Bathroom
Up-to-the-moment baths can be on the smaller side, but those in the suites are plenty big, with walk-in showers (and nice modern tubs in some suites) and all the amenities plus quality L'Occitaine products. Frosted glass windows into the room give extra light while affording privacy.
Lobby
Funky decor aside, there are plenty of comfy nooks for working or relaxing with a complementary coffee (from an excellent local roaster), plus a sleek little billiards room and a cozy library area where you can read up on the area. But the real draw is the outdoor rooftop terrace, where you're welcome to lounge any time of day in warm weather.
You Should Know Place du Tertre is unbearably crowded in summer and a tourist trap. Walk through but whatever you do don't be tempted to dine there. Consider the Musée de Montmartre and its lovely gardens instead.
Spa
The lovely Nuxe spa (a popular Paris-based skincare giant) offers a range of well-priced treatments and massages. The sauna and steam room are free to all guests with an appointment.
Tip Be sure to book the sauna and/or steam room.
Gym
There is a gym, but it's quite small with only a few machines.
Dining
Stupendous views and great service make up for a fairly standard Parisian fare, in this contemporary dining room whose centerpiece is all of Paris.
Drinking
Panoramic views from the terrace bar is really what you're coming for. The cocktails are good, if uninspired, and the wine list perfectly serviceable. A glass of Champagne while watching the Tower sparkle for five minutes on the hour is absolutely worth it.

5-minute walk to Abbesses and Blanches metro stations.
Restaurants
L'Esquisse, on nearby rue Marcadet, is a charming neighborhood bistrot, with great food and excellent wines by the glass. For Japanese, Guilo Guilo's is a Paris institution, and the perpetual show around the horseshoe bar is fun. Reserve well in advance and get there on time, it's a choreographed affair.
Bars
Off a leafy residential street, très chic Le Très Particulier, in the wonderful Hôtel Particulier, offers great cocktails and music in one of the city's more spectacular settings, including a beautiful garden in warm weather. Pigalle's cocktail scene, just downhill, is cocktail central: Glass, Dirty Dick, Maison Souquet, Lulu White are all worth the trip.
