It's fitting that the first building most people see when arriving by ship is dedicated to the patron saint of seafarers. Dominating the skyline, the Lutheran St. Nikolai Church dates back to the 12th century, but has been extensively remodeled and refurbished over the centuries. The church is also believed to be the only one in Europe to have an entirely granite floor.
