Amara

$$$$ | Amathus Ave. 95, 4533, Cyprus

Newly built in 2019 and named after the ancient Greek word for everlasting, almost everything here is sparkling, new, and built to last. The eternal views over the sea are endless, the effortlessly elegant rooms are supremely comfortable, hi-tech, and all have sea views. The Amara Spa features part of the ancient city walls unearthed during the construction of the hotel. There are three pools with the main mosaic-lined infinity pool overlooking the sea and gardens. The big draw for many guests, though, are the four restaurants, including Locatelli by Giorgio Locatelli, and an outpost of Matsuhisa by Nobu.

Pros

  • Discrete, respectful service
  • Impeccable dining facilities
  • Beautiful garden areas

Cons

  • Sun beds get taken early in the day
  • Luxury comes at a price
  • No private beach
