The charming village of Čigoć is officially known as the "European Village of Storks" because it draws so many of the migrating birds each spring, and a testament is its annual Stork Festival in late June. Several hundred of the birds while away much of the summer here before embarking on their long journey to southern Africa. That said, people live here, too, evidenced by the wooden, thatched-roof houses that are likewise a sight to behold.
