Fodor's Expert Review Estate Mount Washington Plantation
Several years ago, the former owners of this property discovered the ruins of a circa-1750 sugar plantation beneath the rainforest brush. The grounds were cleared and opened to the public. The estate has since been sold and is now private property, but the new owners still allow visitors to take a self-guided walking tour of the mill, the rum distillery, and other ruins. An oversize wind chime ringing softly in the breeze and a stone-lined labyrinth create a sense of serenity.
