Fodor's Expert Review Luxury Bahía Príncipe Cayo Levantado
32000, Dominican Republic
Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.
This adults-only, all-inclusive resort—the most expensive and highest rated of the Bahía Príncipes in Samaná—hogs two-thirds of the gorgeous island for itself, but you can't deny that it has the best beaches, pools, and recreational choices of any area resort. Twice-daily ferries shuttle you from the mainland (15 minutes). The oversized guest rooms are notably attractive, especially after the most recent cosmetic renovation; each has a balcony or terrace that looks out over the ocean, with a canopy bed and a whirlpool bath separated by a glass partition. The Brazilian restaurant, Il Rodizzio, is a new concept for Bahía Príncipe and a guest favorite. Service is a high point—and you will be treated with care by the hardworking Dominican staff. The peppy animation team puts on amateur shows each night.
PROS
- Beautiful beach
- Lobby is impressive, as is the ferry's departure lounge on the mainland
