Fodor's Expert Review Bitter End Yacht Club
North Sound, Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands Fodor's Choice
Sailing's the thing at this busy marina in the nautically inclined North Sound, where the long-popular hotel has been recently rebuilt with new Marina Villas that feature a sail-loft vibe and shoreline decks, plus several overwater bungalows. There's a busy social scene at this pleasant maritime village, with guests gathering to swap tales at the boat-shaped beach bar and dine on fresh local seafood, pad thai, and house-made desserts at the Buoy Room restaurant. The Sunchaser Dive shop organizes SCUBA trips, windsurfing lessons, sailing trips. and more. One thing that hasn't changed: the only way to reach the Bitter End is by boat.
PROS
- Lots of water sports
- Good diving opportunities
- Beautiful newly designed rooms and restaurant
CONS
- Expensive
- Still some ongoing renovations as of this writing
- Limited activities unless you love the water
