Island HoppInn's open-air restaurant and bar is right on the beach, just steps away from the tranquil lapping waters of Fernandez Bay. The 24-seat patio has a barbecue grill for cooking up fresh fish of the day, shrimp, lobster, steaks, and ribs. Owner-chef Cathy Perdok is renowned for her conch chowder, fish and vegetable stews, fresh-baked breads, and killer desserts. She will also cater to food allergies and vegetarian and vegan diets. Guests staying at the inn, which has a bed-and-breakfast casualness, mix in by cooking their own dinners at times. The service is good and very personal, the crowd (when there is one) a lot of fun, and the tropical rum drinks are a mellowing delight.
