Fodor's Expert Review Boardwalk Boutique Hotel Aruba
Bakval 20, Palm Beach, n/a Aruba, Aruba Fodor's Choice
What began as a tiny family-run enclave in a historic coconut plantation has since evolved into an enchanting boutique resort of Caribbean cottage-style “casitas” connected by a signature wooden boardwalk and surrounded in vibrant blooms and lush landscaped gardens. Boardwalk guests can enjoy private palapas and food and beverage service in a dedicated space on famed Palm Beach right across the street. Each casita is uniquely decorated with tropical colors, and they all have kitchenettes, BBQs, and hammocks. There are a few unique bespoke units like the second story Palapa 360 Lodge for two with a wraparound deck, and a stand-alone villa with its own plunge pool. Food and beverage service is provided by Eduardo’s Beach Shack, and the daily happy hour happens poolside with a rolling bar cart---get there early for the overwater hammocks. Fitness facilities, yoga, and spa services add to the allure, and breakfast plans are available.
