Fodor's Expert Review Arawak Beach Inn
Island Harbour, n/a Anguilla, AI2640, Anguilla
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
These hexagonal two-story villas are a good choice for a funky, budget-friendly, low-key guesthouse experience. The pricier units on the top floors are more spacious and a bit quieter, with spectacular views of Island Harbour and beyond to Scilly Key. Standard rooms are pretty basic, but the two end units have been beautifully renovated, with modern furniture, flat-screen TVs, and attractive bathrooms and kitchens. You can combine these units to suit a group. The inn's manager, Maria Hawkins, makes guests feel like family. Mix your own drinks at the honor bar, or eat pizza or lip-smacking Caribbean comfort food at the Arawak Café, splashed in psychedelic colors. A small private cove with a sandy beach is a five-minute walk away. Common areas have Wi-Fi. Special rates and packages, including for long stays, are available.

- funky, casual crowd
- friendly owners
- very competitive rates, especially for monthlong stays
CONS
