Fodor's Expert Review Four Seasons Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru
Landaa Giraavaru Island, , Baa Atoll, Maldives Fodor's Choice
Accessible only by seaplane or private boat, this collection of 102 thatched-roof hales (Asian-Pacific villas) is both ultra romantic and family-friendly. The rooms are spread across the private island and set either on the white-sand beach, amid the tropical foliage, or on stilts over the blue-green water. All have wooden accents, a relaxed-chic design, and large outdoor living spaces with private plunge pools. Specialty suites are ideal for families, as is the comprehensive kids club and the resort's marine-conservation educational center, which features both manta-ray tracking and turtle-rescue programs. The pool area caters to those who seek pampering, with a dedicated staff offering cold towels, frozen fruit, and other goodies throughout the day. Dining options range from a produce-focused Mediterranean spot to a sexy Middle Eastern-inspired restaurant made for stargazing. The half-board breakfast and dining package is a great option. At the heart of the island is the award-winning expansive spa village complex, which features garden- and ocean-view treatment bungalows, an herb garden, and an extensive menu of Western, Eastern, and Ayurvedic therapies. Four Seasons also offers a second resort in the Maldives, as well as a private yacht with luxury cabins.
