Kuala Lumpur Getting Here and Around

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is one of the main international hubs in Southeast Asia. There are two terminals: KLIA1, also referred to as KLIA Main Terminal Building (MTB) and its satellite terminal A, and KLIA2, formerly the low-cost carrier terminal. Satellite terminal A and KLIA1 are connected by the Aerotrain, which runs every 2½ to 5 minutes. KLIA2 is 2 km (1½ mile) away but is connected by KLIA Ekspres. The fastest way from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to the city center is via the same KLIA Ekspres, a nonstop high-speed train that takes 28 minutes and operates at 15-minute intervals (RM55 for a one-way trip or RMB100 return). The train brings travelers to KL Sentral, where they can connect to light rail lines and to the monorail. If you'll be riding the rails every day, you may want to get a Touch 'n Go transit card, which costs RMB10 and can be refilled. Buses and taxis are also widely available but can take more time to get to a destination due to traffic. Due to multilane highways and cracked (or in many areas nonexistent) sidewalks, the city is not particularly pedestrian-friendly, though sometimes walking will be the quickest way to get somewhere.
