Kiroro

A 40-minute drive due south from Otaru, Kiroro is a medium-size ski resort blessed with a lot of powder, great tree skiing, and luxurious accommodation options. It is possible to visit as a day-trip from Sapporo, Otaru, or Niseko, and this is what most locals do. If you've got the time and money, however, Kiroro is a fantastic place to spend a week making the most of the deep powder. There are limited facilities outside of the main hotels, but as these are mainly all-inclusive resorts, all your needs are catered for.
