Fodor's Expert Review Trident
Bristow Rd., Kochi, Kerala, 682003, India
This tasteful and stylish hotel, outfitted rather plushly for both business and leisure travelers, is a low-rise, tile-roof building that wraps around a central courtyard, so hallways are full of natural light. A beautiful oil painting of Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama meeting the Zamorin of Calicut in the 15th century is a backdrop in the reception area. In the rooms, which face either the pool or the garden, sand-color wood floors complement soothing cream and teal color schemes. The staff is gracious and helpful.
PROS
- well-priced rooms
- hospitable staff
CONS
- lacks atmosphere
- the deserted Willingdon Island location is nearly 25 minutes by ferry or road from the city's main attractions at Fort Kochi, across the harbor
