Fodor's Expert Review Koder House
Tower Rd., Fort Kochi, Kerala, 682 001, India
Unlike the sober, patrician Dutch mansions nearby, the three-story Koder House sticks out because of its brick exterior's fire-engine color and slightly unusual, Portuguese-inflected architecture. It was once the home of the respected Jewish family who looked after the town’s synagogue. The vast, eccentric, attractive rooms are filled with antique furniture, overstuffed armchairs, red coir carpets, and enormous bathrooms. Well-located, the 1808 building is quite near the beach and the Chinese Fishing Nets. The rooftop pool is a wonderful place for a lazy day.
