Yuexiu and the area behind the Garden Hotel are popular with locals and expats (short- and long-term). Two favorites are Gypsy King Bar and Cave, located on opposite ends of the Zhujiang Building. Cave has a distinct meat-market vibe and features nightly performances by a scantily clad woman whose specialty is dancing with snakes. Gypsy reeks of hashish and is much mellower. Another popular dance club is the Velvet Music Club on the first floor of 403 Huanshidong Lu.
