Fodor's Expert Review Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Lantau Island, n/a Hong Kong, Hong Kong, Hong Kong, China See on Map

Located in extensive, manicured grounds on the shore of the South China Sea within the Disneyland park itself, the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel wows with its grandiose Victorian-style façade, elegant interiors and charming Disney touches throughout. Situated away from the city to the north of Lantau Island, the prime reason for staying here is for convenient access to the resort in a property that piles on the Disneyfication in a sophisticated manner, personified by the impressive Mickey hedge maze that welcomes guests.

Character greetings come as part of the experience of staying here.

If you were expecting brash bright colors and garish Disney illustration at every turn then the rooms here will disappoint. However, if you’d rather save the overloading of the senses for outside the room then the elegant rooms here will appeal, given their subtle applications of Disney fun. Continuing the Victorian mansion theme, rooms are styled in calming greens, mustards, and reds with large beds and family accommodations available at every room level.

YOU SHOULD KNOW Premium rooms come with sea views and private balconies for that Disney royalty touch.

Elegant bathrooms feature full-size tubs, showers and marble vanities with Snow White mirrors that offer the chance to enquire about ‘the fairest of them all’.

European glamour is the theme in the hotel’s lobby, so prepare to experience some serious Beauty and the Beast vibes.

Two gigantic pools mean you don’t have to worry about overcrowding. If you think the 107-square meter indoor pool is big, wait till you see the sprawling outdoor pool with waterslide, waterfalls and views of the ocean.

Along with a well-equipped gym, the hotel provides tennis courts, basketball and soccer facilities to keep guests active.

Choose between experiencing the full-on Disney experience by dining alongside characters in the buffet-led international Enchanted Garden Restaurant, or a more grownup mealtime at the Crystal Lotus Chinese restaurant.

Open seasonally, the Sea Breeze pool bar is the place to enjoy colorful cocktails while the children swim.

Getting Around

When you’re at the hotel you’re here for one reason and one reason only: Disneyland. However, the city is just a 25-minute drive and there are various excursions and points of interest to discover on Lantau Island.

Since the hotel is within the resort, the on-site restaurants are most convenient. If you tire of the food at Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, head across the park’s grounds to Disney’s Hollywood Hotel where you can enjoy a mix of Western and Chinese classics at Hollywood & Dine (10-minute walk).

After a meal at Disney’s Hollywood Hotel, mix it up with cocktails at the Studio Lounge (10-minute walk).

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is an impressive, family-led resort hotel that just so happens to be nestled in the grounds of Hong Kong’s premier theme park. We like the tasteful rooms, the range of activities to keep families busy and the impressive pools.
