What it's like to travel through China's Yunnan province.
My seven-day journey through Yunnan with Songtsam was the kind of trip that quietly transforms you. It’s a place rooted in culture, shaped by mountain landscapes, and softened by the warmth of Tibetan hospitality.
From wandering Lijiang’s ancient alleys to waking in Shangri-La with prayer flags fluttering outside my window, each moment felt deeply immersive. I trekked to sacred monasteries, learned traditional Thangka art, shared simple meals in village homes, watched snub-nosed monkeys in untouched forests, and witnessed sunrise ignite Meili Snow Mountain in gold.
Songtsam’s one-of-a-kind lodges didn’t just offer luxury, they opened doors to genuine connection, offered a look at the region’s rich cultural heritage, and allowed me the privilege of experiencing the soul of Yunnan, if only for a handful of days.
