This is a solid bet in terms of comfort, location and price: simple yet modern rooms, complete with traditional-style furnishings, found in one of the city's most lively and reinvigorated alleyways – packed with bars and boutiques – in the centre of an old hutong area of great interest. As such, there's plenty to do round here, although taxis will struggle to drop you at the door due to the sheer number of people milling around in search of the next cool cafe. Sepia-tone photographs of Old Beijing hang on the restaurant walls, next to carved wall stones with traditional flower motifs, but be warned that the breakfast is not up to much.
