Fodor's Expert Review Augrabies Rest Camp

Augrabies, Northern Cape, South Africa

South African National Parks (SANParks) offers a variety of modern, clean units near both the main visitor center and the falls that were renovated in mid-2014. Clay-colored floors and natural materials such as stone, wood, and clay blend into the environment. All units have braai areas and fully equipped kitchens and sleep three or four people. A 20% discount is offered from November through June, excluding the March/April school vacation. (Although putting off making a reservation is risky, especially during vacation times, the park does take last-minute bookings.) TVs with cable have been installed. Forty campsites are also available for those who would rather rough it. On top of the nightly rates, there's a conservation fee of R152 per adult per day (half that for a child) and a community levy of 1%.
