Bull and Bush @ Okavango Craft Brewery

$ Fodor's Choice

Operating from Maun's first craft brewery, this relaxed, mostly alfresco eatery (part of the Gaborone-based Bull and Bush franchise) serves up the best pizzas in town as well as succulent burgers, grilled mains, and snacks. The pub vibe is underscored by the various draught beers available, which ingeniously use locally grown millet and water from the Okavango in their secret recipes, several of which have won international awards. Inside the bar, a glass back wall gives you a voyeur's view of the working brewery, or for a more in-depth understanding (and the chance to sample the wares), you can book a tour in advance. A playground in the beer garden is a great distraction for underage visitors.

The Duck

$ Fodor's Choice

Maun’s most popular eatery, ideally situated just outside the airport, serves up the best coffee in town together with fresh juices and a varied and original brunch and lunch menu that caters to all palates, ranging from salads and burgers to freshly baked baguettes and Asian specialties.

Dusty Donkey

$

Located just a short walk from the airport, this reliable, friendly café offers a variety of wraps, salads, sandwiches, and a handful of daily specials all washed down with great coffee, milkshakes, smoothies, or a glass of locally brewed craft beer. If you still have space, there's also a great selection of house-made cakes and pastries.

Hilary's Coffee Shop

$

For good old-fashioned comfort food and more of a "locals" atmosphere than the other tourist-heavy cafés, leave the airport and turn right. You'll find this coffee shop behind the offices of Okavango Wilderness Safaris. Hilary has run this coffee shop for years, and everything you eat here is house-baked, including the best breakfast options in Maun. Grab a sandwich, a salad, or one of the daily specials and be sure to try her house-made whole-wheat bread.

Motsana

$

The café at the Gothic-looking Motsana Center serves tasty salads, American pancakes, lip-smacking milkshakes, and a handful of simple main courses. Wander around the curio shops while you wait for your food or make use of the free Wi-Fi. In winter, a projector and screen transform the stage into a cinema on some Thursday nights (check in advance), when dinner is also served. There's also a small play area for children.

Tandurei

$

Serving up a wide range of classic curries and tandoori dishes as well as some Chinese staples, this is the most reliable of Maun's selection of Indian restaurants. The alfresco ambience---a thatched roof provides cover for inclement weather---is relaxed and the service is consistently good.
