Sara Frenning

Sara is a writer exploring the intersection of nature, humans, and culture. She holds a master’s degree in Human Ecology with expertise in coloniality. Her master’s thesis on the relationship between workers and tourists in Nepal’s adventure tourism industry won a stipend for the best thesis about tourism. She is an animal lover with a big drive for long-distance solo adventure and is happiest when she gets to move through nature in hiking boots or on a bike. She has crossed Spain, Sweden, Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia powered solely by her legs. For Sara, it's not only the physical challenge that intrigues her, but also the encounters she has along the way – encounters that she loves to bear witness to in the form of writing. As a Persian/Swedish woman, she is passionate about representation in the outdoor world. Sara currently lives in Kathmandu, Nepal and is freelancing as a copywriter and project manager for an NGO fighting for workers' rights in the adventure tourism industry. She is also freelancing at a documentary production company as a researcher and writer.
