Phoebe Skok

Phoebe Skok is a freelance travel writer and climate journalist with a master's in climate science and policy from Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a passion for sustainability, off-the-beaten-path destinations, and budget travel hacks. Though she’s originally from the Seattle area, studied abroad in Queensland at 16 years old, and has spent the last four years in Southern California, Phoebe recently relocated to Paris in August 2025 to start her second master’s in global journalism and communication and search out the city's best allergy-friendly pastries. While she's just starting to dip her toes into the travel writing space, Phoebe's work has also been published in Matador Network and she has with some forthcoming print work in other publications that focuses on sustainable travel. Phoebe also regularly writes for clean energy trade publications like pv magazine USA and ESS News, where she primarily covers energy storage technology, markets, and policy. Outside of work, Phoebe tries to spend as much time as possible cuddling cats, jumping into cold water, testing new vegan or gluten-free recipes, and doing the New York Times crossword.
