Meena Thiruvengadam is a lifelong traveler with nearly two decades of experience in journalism.
Meena has written about a broad range of topics including travel, personal finance and business for publications including Conde Nast Traveler, Travel+Leisure, Departures, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Fortune and MarketWatch.
Meena has a Master’s degree in Journalism from Northwestern University, where she received a full scholarship as a McCormick Scholar. She covered the 2008 financial crisis from Washington, D.C., for Dow Jones Newswires and The Wall Street Journal. She has worked on staff as an editor for Yahoo Finance, as head of audience development for Business Insider and as global head of audience engagement for Bloomberg.
Meena has been writing travel stories for most of her career. She increased her focus on travel content in 2019 and launched TravelWithMeena.com in 2021.
She has given guest lectures on journalism at Columbia University, Northwestern University, and the University of Southern California. She is a regular speaker at media industry events, including conferences of the Online News Association, Asian American Journalists Association, and South Asian Journalists Association.
Meena is currently based in Chicago, but lived in New York City long enough for it to become home. Meena has also lived in Washington, D.C., London, Salt Lake City and San Antonio.
