Illustrated reference books that Joe has written or contributed to include World Food Thailand; Buddhist Temples of Thailand; Sacred Tattoos of Thailand, Burmese Art, Design & Architecture; Muay Thai; Chiang Mai Style; and Lanna Renaissance. He has worked closely with Anthony Bourdain, Mick Jagger, Steven Tyler, and Disney Studios as a personal guide and location scout. Joe has twice been honored with the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Gold Award and is also a recipient of Mexico's Pluma de Plata (Silver Quill) for outstanding foreign journalism on Mexico.
