Ian Packham

Ian is an award-nominated travel writer, adventurer and after-dinner speaker based in the UK. He specializes in African destinations and has visited 39 of the continent's nations in travels totalling over 2 years including South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, Sierra Leone, and St Helena. During six years of freelance writing he has had bylines in the likes of The i, Daily Mail, JRNY, Voyagers Voice, Africa Geographic and Bradt guides. He has also shared his tales of motivation and adventure with large and enthusiastic audiences across the UK, from schools and travel clubs to the Royal Geographical Society’s London headquarters. Starting his career as a runner-up in National Geographic Traveller's annual writing competition, Ian was also a finalist for Travel Blog Post of the Year in the British Guild of Travel Writers Members’ Excellence Awards 2023 after an anonymised submission process overseen by sister organisations in the US and Australia.
