Daughter of the Akan and Asante by birth, Dorothy Attakora-Gyan (she/her) is an Ottawa-based freelance writer, mental health advocate, and Ph.D. candidate specializing in shame research. A neurodivergent artist and storyteller, she writes short fiction, non-fiction essays, blog posts, dabbles in poetry, and features her own drawings and photography. She ran her own business from 2009 until 2013, as the Founder and Creative Director of Mina Danielle Designs, an African clothing line. She won the Teaching Assistant Award in 2015 and is a trained Community Health, Sexual Health, and HIV Prevention Educator. A highly sensitive and intuitive Aquarius girl, she arrived from the future and dreams of worlds she’s never known before. Her imagination sometimes gets her into good trouble.
